The BRG9 Elite Gen2 is the optic-ready evolution of the BRG9 Elite — a 9mm striker-fired pistol with a factory-cut rear slide for red-dot mounting, ambidextrous controls, and 18+1 capacity. Built by BRG Defense and imported exclusively by Universal Imports Inc. (CalibrexArms), the Gen2 combines a forged steel barrel and slide with a high-strength polymer frame, three interchangeable backstraps, and a patented disassembly system that doesn't require a trigger pull.
What's new in the Gen2 (vs. the original BRG9 Elite)
The Gen2 is a meaningful upgrade, not a cosmetic refresh. Four changes matter to most shooters. First, the slide is factory-cut for a red dot — four different mounting plates ship in the box to fit popular footprints (Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507/407 family, Shield RMSc, and Docter/Noblex pattern). Second, both the slide stop and magazine release are ambidextrous, so left-handed shooters get full control without aftermarket parts. Third, the BRG9 Elite Gen2 uses a patented disassembly system that does not require pulling the trigger — a safety win compared to most striker-fired pistols. Fourth, magazine capacity is now 18+1 (one more than the original Elite and one more than a Glock 17), shipped with two factory 18-round magazines.
What makes the BRG9 Elite Gen2 different
The barrel and slide are forged from aerospace-grade steel and rated for approximately 100,000 rounds; major fire-control components are rated for approximately 25,000 rounds, so the Gen2 is built to run hard without rebuilding. Three independent safeties — a firing-pin block, a trigger safety, and a grip safety — work alongside loaded-chamber and striker-status indicators. The ergonomic grip uses aggressive serrations developed with law-enforcement input, and the accessory rail accepts standard lights and lasers.

This is a firearm — it ships from CalibrexArms to your selected FFL dealer, who handles the final transfer to you under federal and state law. Choose your dealer at checkout. Transfer fees are set by the FFL dealer (typically $25–$50). State restrictions: The BRG9 Elite Gen2 cannot be shipped to California or Massachusetts. Magazine capacity may be reduced for states with magazine-capacity limits (NY, NJ, CT, MA, CA, CO, HI, IL/Cook County, MD, VT, WA, DC, OR). Verify your state's compliance before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Which red-dot optics fit the BRG9 Elite Gen2?
The Gen2 ships with four removable mounting plates covering the most common micro red-dot footprints — including patterns for Trijicon RMR/SRO, Holosun 507/407 series, Shield RMSc-style, and Docter/Noblex pattern optics. Choose the plate that matches your dot, swap it in, and torque to the manufacturer's spec.
What's the difference between the BRG9 Elite and the Elite Gen2?
The Gen2 adds four meaningful changes: a factory-cut slide for a red dot (with four mounting plates), ambidextrous slide and magazine releases, patented no-trigger-pull disassembly, and 18+1 capacity (vs the original's 17+1). Mechanical action and barrel are otherwise the same, and most accessories carry over.
Does the BRG9 Elite Gen2 ship to my state?
The BRG9 Elite Gen2 ships to FFL dealers in 48 states. It cannot be shipped to California or Massachusetts. In states with magazine-capacity restrictions (such as NY, NJ, CT, CO, MD, WA, DC), the pistol ships with reduced-capacity magazines compliant with state law.
What's covered by the warranty
The BRG9 Elite Gen2 carries a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship under normal-use conditions. Normal wear, reloaded-ammunition damage, and unauthorized modifications are excluded.
Why does the Gen2 disassemble without a trigger pull?
BRG Defense designed a patented takedown system that releases the slide without pulling the trigger first. This avoids the well-known safety risk of pulling the trigger on a still-loaded pistol during cleaning — a step that has caused injuries on other striker-fired pistols.
